This most northern group of islands in Tonga consists of sixty-one islands of which just fifteen are inhabited. It’s where most cruisers check into the country when making their crossing from east. We spent a total of two months here over two seasons and really enjoyed it. This is by far our favorite group in all of Tonga.
There are so many wonderful islands to visit that it’s almost impossible to see them all. Whether you’re looking to hang out with other cruisers or spend time in solitude you will get your way here. And, if you love snorkeling and diving you are in for a spectacular treat. Don’t miss the Japanese Coral Gardens for starters. This is one of the most fascinating places we’ve seen to date.
