While not originally on our agenda we ended up spending 17 days here. We were in need of some parts for our water maker and it’s very cost effective to have things shipped here from the states so it worked out.
We’ve heard some cruisers dismiss American Samoa saying it wasn’t worth their time. For us, however, we found it to be a wonderful place filled with warm and welcoming people, great food and beautiful scenery. That said, it does still have some issues. The bay at Pago Pago does have a lot of debris on the bottom that can cause an anchor to drag or get tangled. This is mostly from the tsunami in 2009.
